Writer’s “Nook”

I thought I would show people where I write. It’s not so much a place exactly as a set up. Here it is:

So no, I don’t have a re-purposed chicken coop, or a great office, or even part of a room dedicated to writing in my house. All I have is this little 20 by 40 inch red folding table, to which I occasionally add an extra monitor using a TV tray. (The monitor is helpful when I’m editing and trying to cut and paste – the bigger the screen, the better!)

This works for me. I’ve always been a big proponent of having a specific place for every task, just as I tell college students they should try to study in the same place all the time and use that space for nothing else. That’s supposed to get them in the mood for studying as soon as they sit down. Students often balk at this, but it definitely works for me. So the beauty of this rather spartan set up for me is that I can write any place I can put my little table and laptop.

Mind you, it does get a little challenging when I’m working on the Port Angel map, but it works for everything else. Try it for yourself!
