C3 Bound!

I’m in the final stages of preparing to attend my first writer’s conference — C3 — also known as Creatures, Crimes and Creativity.

C3 is a CON whose purpose is “to gather readers and writers of all genre fiction; including mystery, suspense, thriller, horror, sci-fi, fantasy and paranormal etc.”  C3 will be held this September 8-10 at the Sheraton Towne Center in Columbia, MD, and it will feature over 40 authors and a number of fans all engaging in fascinating panels and conversations about popular literature, the writing process, and book marketing.  C3 is unique in that writers and fans share their meals together and build a strong and supportive community.  Many of the authors at the CON are very experienced and successful, and I’m looking forward to learning a lot from them.

The panels I’ve been assigned to this year are:

BACK FROM THE DEAD – There are many characters who die in what appears to be a permanent fashion, only to be brought back from death. How do the characters interact with resurrection (their own or someone else’s) and in some cases even prepare for it? When do readers feel like this works when does it feel like a cheap trick or a cop-out?  and,

SCIENCE FICTION: Sex, Death and Reincarnation: How Weird Was That?? – No matter how weird science fiction gets (and it can get pretty weird), it still always feels like a pale reflection of the incessant nuttiness of the real world.

My C3 priority now is to prepare for the panels so I don’t embarrass myself!  You can find out more about C3 at their website –http://creaturescrimesandcreativity.com/

My other priority is to get the editing completed on Take Hart so I can publish it this fall.

Fortunately, I had great assistance from my daughter Rosa in getting the editing started.

Wish me luck!
