Thanks to the great folks at Juneteenth, and wonderful help from both Ellen and Rosa, we had a great day at Juneteenth! Ten more copies of Twin Worlds are now out in the public, and lots of people stopped by and seemed at least mildly interested in my writing, which was a big ego boost.
I did learn a couple of things at Juneteenth. First, while a very active book genre, science fiction is still an acquired taste. Some people, on learning that Twin Worlds was science fiction couldn’t leave the area fast enough. Another thing is that some parents asked whether the book was appropriate for young people, like young teens and tweens. (My sense? Twin Worlds is fine for both audiences, though Take Hart might be a tad better for teens and up because of the violence and some language).
Something else? So many people are accustomed to paying with plastic, that I may need to purchase a credit card swiper. I’m thinking that’s a good problem to have.
And who knows? There may be lots of other festivals I can attend to sell books as well. Plus I have to tell you — the board we put together for Twin Worlds was killer!
And thanks to all of those who purchased copies of Twin Worlds!
