You may be wondering why this banner has changed. Well, I thought it made sense to show the book release banner I’m sharing on social media. See the full announcement below!
Book News
In 2017, I wrote the first novel featuring a probationary police officer–Stephanie Hart, also known as “Steve.” And now in 2024, comes the second in the Stephanie Hart series, Hard Look Back.
Hart is thriving as a new police officer in Port Angel. Her routine world is shaken, however, when two young sisters are kidnapped, likely by a serial predator and murderer. To complicate matters, a news reporter reveals that the sisters’ stepfather was implicated years ago in an assault while he was a teenager in Chicago.
The Port Angel police are racing to find the girls before the unthinkable happens and Hart and her colleagues have to use their instincts, skills, and determination to find the girls and decide if their stepfather is an unfortunate victim or a predator himself; and time is running out.
And Stephanie Hart has made it clear: not on my watch.
What Will Ai Do Next?
When we read, we create pictures in our minds of the main characters. These picture are informed by the author’s descriptions, and sometimes, by our preconceived notions of the character based on their occupations, age, or other factors.
We know that Stephanie Hart is mixed with a Caucasian father and African-American mother. She’s taller than average, about 5’ 9”, has jet-black hair, has a scar on her left arm, and is somewhat muscular. But I didn’t go any farther than that.
But using these prompts alone, artificial intelligence created this possible image of “Steve” Hart.
Mind you, you can have any image of Hart in your mind that you want. But I thought I’d give you one possible face to think about as you read Hard Look Back. (Photo created by Hotpot.ai)
Stop By My Table at This Year’s Juneteenth Celebration!
Juneteenth is finally a federal holiday. But the UCAC—the Unified Committee for Afro-American Contributions—has been celebrating Juneteenth in St. Mary’s County, Maryland for years. This year’s celebration will be held on Saturday, June 15, at Lancaster Park from noon to 7:00 pm.
I’m going to be there as well, staffing my author table!
Yep, if you’d like your signed copies of any of my five books—Twin Worlds, Desert Son, Take Hart, Hard Look Back, or Parenting a College Student—come by Lancaster Park on Saturday for the summer’s best family festival! This will be the largest Juneteenth celebration ever, and you don’t want to miss it!
